Saudi Commerce Minister Visits Thailand to Strengthen Economic Ties

Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi started a visit today to the Kingdom of Thailand to strengthen economic ties, sign a memorandum of understanding with the Thai Ministry of Commerce and convene the Saudi-Thai Business Council. The business council aims to familiarize representatives of each country with the direct and indirect investment opportunities and contributes to the settlement of trade disputes between the two countries amicably.

Al-Qasabi will meet with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumtham Wechayachai, Minister of Public Health Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Labour Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Industry Pimphattra Wichaikul, and Minister of Tourism and Sports Sermsak Pongpanit.

Al-Qasabi is accompanied by representatives from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Investment, Tourism, Human Resources and Social Development, Economy and Planning, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Export Development Authority, the Public Investment Fund, and major Saudi companies.

The visit comes within the framework of the growing Saudi-Thai relations. In 2023, the Thai Trade Exhibition was held in Riyadh and enjoyed a high turnout of over 40,000 visitors. Some 300 leading entities and brands participated in the exhibition, which presented a valuable opportunity for Saudi entrepreneurs, business people and investors to meet with their Thai counterparts and discuss investment and partnership opportunities in various fields.
