Saudi Minister of Energy: Energy efficiency is a promising market in the Kingdom

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, stressed that energy efficiency is a promising market in the Kingdom, and improving its standards contributed to reducing harmful emissions to 57 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

In the annual report of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, the Minister revealed cumulative savings amounting to 492 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day until 2022, as a result of improving standards and updating specifications for various energy efficiency devices year after year.

He stated that the efforts and responsibilities undertaken by the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency reflect the continuous and escalating pattern of efforts made by the Kingdom, represented in the energy sector, with the aim of achieving further progress towards achieving the goals of the vision 2030 for this vital sector, and for the Kingdom as a whole; From diversifying the national energy mix to achieve the optimal, most efficient, and least expensive mix, in an effort to increase the share of renewable energy in this mix to the optimum level, achieve balance in the mix of local energy sources, and fulfill the Kingdom’s commitments towards reducing emissions.
