Saudi Minister of Energy discusses with France, Greece, ‎Pakistan oil market stability, cooperation in renewable energy ‎and clean hydrogen

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, held a meeting via video conference with the French Minister of Energy Transformation, Agnes Pannier-Runacher, during which they stressed the need to increase the stability of the global oil market, to continue close communication, and to enhance cooperation to face the emerging risks and challenges.

The two sides also stressed the strengthening of relations between the two countries, and the importance of ensuring security and energy supplies to global markets, noting that the Kingdom remains a reliable partner in crude oil supplies to France.

The meeting discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of clean hydrogen and the promising field of renewable energy in which French companies actively participate, in addition to cooperation within the framework of the bilateral cooperation agreement for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy between the Saudi and French governments signed on February 22, 2011.

The two ministers stressed the importance of urging the teams of the two parties to work on opportunities in the petrochemicals, electricity, energy efficiency, innovation, decarbonization technologies, and other areas of common interest.

In another context, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, held, on Thursday, via video conference, the “first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Economic Axis” with His Excellency the Minister of Finance and Revenue of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Prince Abdulaziz affirmed that the Kingdom considers Pakistan an important partner in its development plans and programs, and that the two brotherly countries are seeking, through the work of this sub-committee emanating from the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council, to enhance means of cooperation between them, and to find new partnership opportunities, and initiatives that return For the benefit and common interest of the two countries and their peoples, praising the strong and historical relations linking the Kingdom and Pakistan.

He indicated that cooperation between them and the activation of various projects are on the right path, referring to the energy field, within which several topics are currently being discussed, most notably cooperation in the petroleum and supply sectors, petrochemicals, electricity, renewable energy, industry, and transportation, in addition to Many opportunities available for implementation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue completing the work of the committee, follow up on the outcomes of this meeting, and continue joint coordination between the work teams on both sides, to reach results that live up to the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of the two brotherly countries.

It is noteworthy that the work of the Steering Committee covers several areas, including energy, industry, mineral wealth, trade, finance, environment, agriculture, transportation, logistics, communications, information technology, tourism and investment.

On the other hand, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, held a meeting via video conference with the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrickas, during which the two sides stressed the strengthening of relations between the two countries in various energy fields, and welcomed the formation of a high-level working group, which facilitates the implementation of a memorandum The understanding signed between the two countries in July 2022 AD.

The two sides expressed their readiness to cooperate in supporting the stability of global oil markets, continuing close communication, and enhancing cooperation in facing emerging challenges and risks, and stressed the need to ensure the security and reliability of energy supplies to global markets, noting that the Kingdom remains one of Greece’s most reliable partners in the crude oil supply.

The meeting discussed cooperation in the field of renewable energy, clean hydrogen, and electrical interconnection projects, as an active element in the field of energy export to Greece and Europe. The meeting also stressed the importance of activating the participation of relevant working groups from both sides to achieve the goals of the two countries.
