,The Local Content, Governmental Procurement Authority launched Public competition

for an accreditation platform, for the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (Tahliya) to localize the reverse osmosis membranes, used in water desalination industry and transfer its manufacturing knowledge to the Kingdom, in general, and to the corporation, in particular.

The main goal is to activate the method of contracting, to localize the industry and transfer knowledge, which is one of the methods Government procurement introduced in the new government competition and procurement system..

The authority indicated that the localization of the reverse osmosis membranes industry, will contribute to increasing the proportion of local content and job opportunities.

In addition to qualifying and empowering national cadres, in the industry, as the impact of the localization of the reverse osmosis membranes industry on the GDP, which is expected to range approximately from SR140 million and SR1billion.

For the duration of the agreement, which is up to 8 years, with the company to which the competition will be awarded to,

the authority indicated that the announcement of the tender comes after the approval of the Ministry of Finance of a feasibility study for the opportunity to localize the reverse osmosis membranes industry.

The tender documents, were put forward, in coordination with the Spending Efficiency Authority and Governmental Projects, the Public Authority for Water Conversion, and the Ministry of Investment.

The contracting method to localize industry and transfer knowledge contributes to maximizing local content, by creating new industries, job opportunities, supply chains and transferring manufacturing knowledge. Government method, for its part, meet government demand, in the fastest time, at a lower cost and higher quality, and also ensures rationalization of spending, by providing sustainable national products.

Localization competition for the reverse osmosis membranes industry is the sixth competition offered by the authority, as part of its efforts to activate the new method.

Last October, it announced the launch of five limited competitions by the National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies (NUPCO), to localize the manufacture of five products for medical personal protection.

The authority called on private sector companies to apply for the manufacture of reverse osmosis membranes competition, through Etimad platform.
