Alkhorayef secures SAR 1.7 billion O&M contracts for sewage treatment in Al Ahsa city

Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Co. has announced the acquisition of a substantial long-term contract with the national water company for the operation and management of sewage treatment plants (Package 7) in Al Ahsa City, valued at SAR 1.7 billion. The contract spans a duration of 15 years.

Under this agreement, Alkhorayef will undertake a comprehensive scope of services, including design, rehabilitation works, testing, commissioning, full operation and maintenance, and eventual handover of three existing sewage treatment plants (STPs) and one new STP in Al Ahsa, KSA. The existing STPs include Al Hafuf STP 1, Al Oyun STP, and Al Omran STP, while the new addition is Al Hafuf STP 2.

Rehabilitation efforts will be carried out in two phases over a total period of 36 months from the contract date. Concurrently, operation and maintenance services will span the entire 15-year period, commencing alongside the rehabilitation work. The total design treatment capacity of the plants will be upgraded from 457,500 m3/day to 472,000 m3/day.

The financial implications of this project are set to take effect in the third quarter of 2024, as outlined in the statement released on Tadawul. Notably, this marks the third LTOM package awarded to Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Company.
