ACWA Power and IRENA are also exploring opportunities to mobilize financing and investment in renewable energy projects and infrastructure support, and to facilitate the development, storage, distribution, transmission and consumption of renewable energy sources. Moreover, joint workshops and seminars will be organized to exchange best practices, enhance capacities and increase awareness of the energy transition among different societal groups of youth, professionals, and others through IRENA platforms and programmes.

For his part, Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), said: “We have less than a decade to limit the global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Accelerating the transition towards renewable energy requires industry leaders to come together, as the memorandum of understanding between IRENA and ACWA Power confirms the growing commitment to work towards decarbonisation in the world. “The energy transition is inevitable, so we need to work together to accelerate the sustainable use of renewables and green hydrogen in the world.”

It is worth noting that the International Renewable Energy Agency is an intergovernmental organization that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future. It represents the basic platform for international cooperation and is a center of excellence, policy, technology, resources and financial knowledge in the field of renewable energy.
