Bezos’s sales this month represent the first time that the American billionaire has moved to sell shares in Amazon since May 2021 – the year in which he stepped down from the position of Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Bezos is the third richest man in the world, with a fortune estimated at $191.4 billion, according to Forbes estimates. His holdings in Amazon fell to 952.2 million shares from 976.2 million shares before this month’s sales.

Bezos announced last year that he would move from Seattle to Miami, a move that would potentially save him hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes on stock sales.
