Cabinet Praise Al-Jafoura Giant Gas Field Development Works

Under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Cabinet, during its weekly session, virtually, held, considered, in praise, the launch of commercial development works for unconventional gas, at Al-Jafoura field, in the Eastern Province, an essential element in achieving many of the objectives of (Vision 2030).

It is as well, a continuation of the support, empowerment and back up that the energy sector receives from the state, the Cabinet added, in a statement announced, at the end of the session.

Such efforts in development and economic diversification, would exploit the Kingdom’s comparative advantages, enhancing its leading position, in the global energy market, and its record in environmental protection and sustainability, as well.

Meanwhile, it expressed satisfaction with the gradual recovery of the Kingdom’s economy, since the middle of last year, and now it is becoming stronger, recording positive growth rates, in various sectors, grace to the realistic and responsible policies and measures taken by the state, in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic and limiting its.  human, financial and economic repercussions.

The cabinet concluded the following:

Authorizing the Minister of Energy – or his deputy – to discuss with the French side, a draft cooperation agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the French Republic, in the field of energy.

Approval of a headquarters’ agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), regarding the organization of the union office.

Authorizing the Minister of Communications and Information Technology – or his deputy – to discuss with the French side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the General Secretariat for Digital Transformation and Electronic Communications, in the French Republic, in the field of digital innovation and emerging technologies.

Endorsing the accession of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – represented by the Ministry of Energy – to the Global Pledge Initiative on Methane.

Approval of the organizational arrangements for the Saudi Red Sea Authority.

Endorsing establishment of the General Corporation for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles, in the Red Sea, in accordance with its organizational arrangements.

Approving implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf issued at its forty-first session regarding the adoption of the Law (Regulation) of Preventive Measures from Contagious and Epidemic Animal Diseases and their Control, the Unified Law (Regulation) for the Protection, Development and Exploitation of Live Aquatic Wealth, and the Law (System) of inputs of unified organic products, and working with them, in an indicative manner for a period of (two years).
