European stock indices rise after counter-tariffs against US
European indices jumped at the start of trading on Wednesday, after the European Union announced counter-tariffs against the United States.
The STOXX 600 index rose about 0.5% to 539 points.
The German DAX also rose 0.8% to 22,511 points, while the French CAC rose about 0.8% to 8,010 points, and the British FTSE rose 0.2% to 8,510 points.
