China warns America against opening an investigation targeting its maritime industries

Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday that Beijing strongly opposes opening a US investigation targeting its maritime, logistics and ship construction industries, warning that it will take all steps to defend its rights and interests.

According to Reuters, the ministry added in a statement that the American move lacks any realistic basis and contradicts “sound economic logic,” as Washington blames China for its problems in the industrial sector.

The ministry stated that the previous US government had opened what is known as a Section 301 investigation against China and imposed additional duties on it, and now “due to domestic political needs, the United States has renewed the opening of the Section 301 investigation, which is a repetition of the same mistake.”
