‎“Sama”: Banks’ liabilities from public sector decline to SR648.3 ‎billion

Data from the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia for the month of March 2023 revealed a decrease in bank liabilities from the government and semi-governmental public sector to about 648.3 billion riyals at the end of last March, a decline of 5.8 billion riyals from its levels in the previous month (February 2023), which were 654.2 billion riyals. ..

According to the statistical bulletin for the month of March, government bonds (which include internationally issued government bonds and sukuk that banks buy from the secondary market), in which Saudi banks invested, rose to 518.4 billion riyals at the end of last March, with a value of 2350 million riyals, compared to 516 billion riyals. On the other hand, bank credit to public institutions decreased to 129.97 billion riyals by the end of March 2023, at a value of 8184 million riyals from their levels in February, which were 138.2 billion riyals.
