Fahd Al-Rasheed to “Maaal”: Riyadh’s file for Expo 2030 is very ‎strong…Hosting to cost SR30 bln

Fahd bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Rasheed, CEO of Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), confirmed in statements to the “Maaal” newspaper that the Saudi file to host Expo 2030 is very strong from a technical point of view, as the cost of preparing the site to host Expo Riyadh 2030 is approximately 30 billion riyals ($8 billion), indicating that the main theme of the exhibition “Together we look forward to the future” was inspired by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Al-Rasheed revealed that the site will not only host the Riyadh Expo 2030, but even after the Expo, we are studying the mechanism of implementing the project in such a way that it is part of the general city plan for the post-event, and the site will be north of the city of Riyadh.

Al-Rasheed expected on the sidelines of the press conference accompanying the visit of the members of the International Exhibitions Bureau delegation; that more than 40 million visitors will attend the exhibition, half of whom are from outside the Kingdom, and more than a billion through the Metaverse technology, which is presented for the first time in this edition, stressing that Riyadh is ready to host Expo 2030.

He continued: “We will focus on issues of concern to the world, which is how we can deal with global variables, such as climate change and others, and the city of Riyadh will be ready with all the ingredients it needs, if it is one of the major projects of King Salman Airport, public transportation, Qiddiya, and heritage projects such as Diriyah and others.”

Al-Rasheed explained that the mission that visited the proposed site for the Riyadh Expo 2030 exhibition talked about Riyadh readiness in terms of infrastructure care and major projects that are being implemented or planned in line with the support given by the wise leadership and state institutions to the Riyadh hosting file for the International Expo 2030. The community interaction enjoyed by major events made the Kingdom in general and Riyadh in particular an ideal place to host this global forum.

For his part, Patrick Speke, Head of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, said that the opportunity to visit Riyadh to review the file to host Saudi Arabia was a truly wonderful experience, and it was clear to us that Vision 2030 was able to achieve many ambitions, indicating that they were briefed on Riyadh’s ability to achieve success by hosting the Expo 2030 edition.

It is noteworthy that the members of the delegation of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, accompanied by the CEO of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, Fahd bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Rasheed, visited the proposed site for the Riyadh Expo 2030, where they viewed the master plan of the site, which extends over an area of 6 million square meters, during the third day. The delegation’s visit to Riyadh, aimed at discussing the Kingdom’s file to host the 2030 World Expo.
