Al-Nasser announces launch of “Aramco Digital” to stimulate ‎Saudi digital economy

Eng. Amin Hassan Al-Nasser, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company “Aramco”, announced today, Monday, the launch of “Digital Aramco” to enhance Aramco’s leading position in the energy industry and artificial intelligence driving digital innovation across broader Saudi industry; and the development of the Saudi digital economy through a network of partnerships, projects and joint ventures.

Al-Nasser stated that Aramco plans to invest $1.9 billion over the next three years in the digital field, describing it as the company’s largest investment in this field so far, while adding value to the Kingdom’s digital ecosystem.

Al-Nasser indicated, during his speech at the opening of the “Iktva” conference and exhibition, which began today, January 30, and will continue until February 2, that the Saudi economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, as its value is expected to exceed a trillion dollars for the first time.

He continued, “I am very pleased to say that, as of today, we have achieved 63% of local content through our purchases, and we are aiming for 70% by 2025.”

Al-Nasser explained that 2023 will be a transformative year for our supply chain thanks to three compelling reasons including, first, the recently announced “Namat” program which complements the sufficiency program, we will take “Made in Saudi Arabia” to a higher strategic level this year. The expanded scope includes six major sectors: sustainability; Digitize industrial investments; manufacturing; infrastructure and citizenship.
