Ministry of Finance Grabs CIPS Int’l Award for Best Procurement Transformation Program

The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) announced that the Ministry of Finance has won the CIPS Global Award, as the best procurement transformation program for the Year 2021, during the awards ceremony  was held in London, on September 22, with the participation of representatives from government agencies, institutions and regional and international companies, interested in the procurement sector.

The award was received by the Executive Director of the Government Procurement Efficiency Sector, in the Expenditure Efficiency and Governmental Projects Authority, Eng. Hani bin Abdulrahman Mirza.

Mirza expressed his pride in this new global achievement, which is added to a long series of financial and economic achievements by the Kingdom in the past years.

He explained that the award jury included a group of the most specialized experts in the procurement sector, and based its evaluation of this achievement on the ambitious transformation process, witnessed by the government procurement system in the Kingdom during the past three years, which was based on best practices and the highest standards in the procurement business.

A fundamental change that involved more than (500) government agencies and work was carried out through four axes, including: launching the government competition and procurement system and its regulations, digital transformation by automating procedures, in a unified portal for government procurement (accreditation platform).

And building the capabilities of government procurement employees, which contributed to enhancing the organization of procurement procedures, developing new tools, methodologies and purchasing methods.

In addition to enhancing the efficiency of government procurement to maximize impact against spending.

It also contributed to enhancing transparency and competitiveness, in addition to reducing the procurement life cycle by 60% and maximizing the impact against spending by 20%.

“This achievement is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Finance, the Spending Efficiency Authority and Government Projects, and the National Center for Government Resource Systems, which resulted in this project being awarded the Best Global Program for Transformation in the Procurement Sector for the year 2021, outperforming major authorities. private and government in the world.

He pointed out that this transformation of government procurement comes as a major enabler to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, within the financial sustainability program, which aims to sustain and stabilize the public finance situation, while maintaining economic growth rates, and raising the efficiency of government spending.
