The Communications and Information Technology Commission has asked the public for feedback on the document related to “Regulating the Use of the Fixed Radio Service in Wireless Links,” in which the Commission seeks to re-plan all frequency bands used in fixed wireless links (point-to-point and point-to-multipoint), as well as update the licensing mechanism.

The proposed changes to the channel arrangement plan used in wireless links in the fixed radio service, as well as regulations for the use of the fixed radio service in wireless links in the bands designated for these applications, are reviewed in the visual request document. It also includes a correction plan to reassign certain bands in accordance with the International Telecommunication Union’s proposed regulations and recommendations.

The authority intends to introduce innovative techniques to license the use of wireless links and enhance the efficiency of the use of the frequency spectrum for these applications by regulating the frequencies of the bands used for wireless links in the fixed radio service. In addition to addressing market demands for the frequency spectrum utilized in wireless networks, the Kingdom is improving the quality of its Internet services.
