Saudi Ports See Significant Growth in July 2025

Ports supervised by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) recorded significant growth across several key metrics in July 2025.
The total number of handled containers increased by 12.01% to 722,502 TEUs, compared with 645,019 TEUs in July 2024. This growth was driven by a 35.34% surge in transshipment containers, which reached 175,666 TEUs. Outgoing containers rose by 12.86% to 275,098 TEUs, while imported containers recorded a slight increase of 0.10%.
The volume of goods handled also grew, with total tonnage—including general, solid bulk, and liquid bulk cargo—rising by 2.81% to more than 21.18 million tons. The ports received 582,708 heads of cattle, up 13.18% from the previous year.
Maritime traffic increased by 11.27%, with 1,017 ships docking at the ports. Passenger numbers surged by 41.70% to 73,953. The only decline was in vehicle traffic, which dropped by 22.66% to 69,969 vehicles.
