The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said today that global food commodity prices rose in July to their highest level in more than two years, driven by higher prices for meat and vegetable oils.
The FAO Food Price Index, which tracks monthly changes in the prices of a basket of globally traded food commodities, averaged 130.1 points in July 2025, up 1.6% from June.
This is the highest reading since February 2023, although the index is 18.8% below its peak in March 2022, which followed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
