China’s Light Industry Sector Records Revenues of Over $1.5 Trillion in H1

Data released by the China National Light Industry Council (CLIC) showed that operating revenues of the country’s major light industry enterprises reached 11.3 trillion yuan (approximately 1.57 trillion US dollars) in the first half of this year, with their added value growing 7 percent year-on-year.

According to the CLIC data, incentive policies played a significant role in the consumer market, with sales of 11 categories of light industry products exceeding 4.3 trillion yuan in the first half, an increase of 11.6 percent year-on-year.

In terms of industrial upgrading, the shift toward advanced and smart products accelerated, with the penetration rate of digital R&D tools among major light industry enterprises reaching 86.2 percent, contributing to the large-scale production of high-value-added products.
