US Imposes 35% Tariffs on Imports from Canada

US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of 35% tariffs on imports from Canada, effective August 1.

In his letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, published on Truth Social, Trump said, “Instead of cooperating with the United States, Canada has responded with its own tariffs.”

This comes after Trump told NBC News earlier today that the US administration would send letters to the European Union and Canada notifying them of the new US tariff rates on imports from them “today or tomorrow.”

Trump told NBC that all remaining countries that have not been notified of the tariffs will pay higher tariffs, whether 20% or 15%.
