Trump Halts Funding for California High-Speed Rail Project

US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of billions of dollars in federal funding for a high-speed rail line between Los Angeles and San Francisco in California, a project that began more than 15 years ago and has been repeatedly delayed.

The president wrote on his Truth Social platform, “Not a single federal cent will be spent on this con,” adding, “It was a poorly planned, unnecessary project, and a complete waste of taxpayer money, and it’s now over.”

“Although the project began in 2008, construction did not begin until early 2025, following a series of delays and financial problems.
