The Kingdom maintained its first global ranking in the Cybersecurity Index, according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2025, issued by the World Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.
In this regard, Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Cybersecurity Authority, on behalf of himself, the members of the Authority’s Board of Directors, and all its employees, extended his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the support, wise guidance, and continuous monitoring of the cybersecurity sector in the Kingdom. This has enabled it to achieve advanced rankings over successive years in various international indicators, including the Kingdom’s classification as a leading role model in the highest category (Role-Model) of the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024, issued by the United Nations through its specialized agency, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). He said: “This achievement adds to the series of accomplishments and successes achieved by the Kingdom in all fields since the launch of the insightful, proactive vision of the wise leadership to establish a comprehensive cybersecurity sector in the Kingdom, with its security and development aspects, and its various local and international dimensions. The cybersecurity system has witnessed significant development in record time since the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Authority as the competent authority in the Kingdom for cybersecurity and the national reference in its affairs, and the establishment of the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE) as its strategic and technical partner. These are two fundamental pillars of the Saudi model for cybersecurity, the outcomes of which have contributed to strengthening national cybersecurity and technical sovereignty, localizing priority technologies, and enhancing information sharing and international cooperation.” The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) is the Kingdom’s competent authority for cybersecurity and the national authority on cybersecurity affairs. It aims to enhance cybersecurity to protect the country’s vital interests, infrastructure, and national security. The Authority is responsible for stimulating the growth of the cybersecurity sector in the Kingdom, encouraging innovation and investment in it, and developing policies, governance mechanisms, frameworks, standards, controls, and guidelines related to cybersecurity. This is intended to achieve a secure and reliable Saudi cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity.
