Islamic assets in Saudi banks reached 3.56 trillion riyals by end of Q2 of 2025, a 16% increase

The cumulative Islamic assets in Saudi banks reached 3.56 trillion riyals by the first quarter of this year, 2025, a 16% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024, when they stood at 3.07 trillion riyals, according to data from the Saudi Central Bank. Islamic assets in the Kingdom have witnessed remarkable growth over the past five years, rising from SAR 2.04 trillion in 2020 to SAR 2.41 trillion in 2021, then to SAR 2.71 trillion in 2022, SAR 2.98 trillion in 2023, and finally SAR 3.40 trillion in 2024.

As for cumulative Islamic financing, it reached approximately SAR 2.59 trillion by the end of the first quarter of 2025, a 15% increase compared to the previous year’s SAR 2.24 trillion.

Murabaha financing topped the list of Sharia-compliant contracts in the Kingdom, with a value of SAR 1.32 trillion, representing 51% of the total financing, followed by Tawarruq financing with a value of SAR 1.00 trillion, representing 38%. Financial leasing financing came in third place with a value of 216 billion riyals, or about 8% of the total, while the share of other contracts combined did not exceed 3%.
