Counterpoint Research revealed that smartphone shipments in China declined 2.4% during the second quarter compared to the same period last year. Apple’s sales declined 1.6% year-on-year, while Huawei’s sales grew 17.6%.
Huawei topped the market with an 18.1% share of total shipments, followed by Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi, according to CNBC.
A report from market research firm International Data Corp (IDC) indicated that Huawei shipped 12.5 million phones during the April-June period, capturing an 18.1% market share, marking a strong return to the top spot in the Chinese market after a six-year absence. The report indicated that this recovery was driven by tremendous growth in specific categories, with foldable phone shipments jumping 240% year-on-year, while Meta’s flagship phone series contributed more than 45% of total shipments, reflecting a clear recovery in the premium phone market.
