Germany: Exports decreased by 1.4% during May

German exports decreased by 1.4% last May compared to April and imports by 3.8%, but they increased on an annual basis by 0.4 and 4.2%, respectively.

The German Federal Statistical Office stated, in a statement today, that the value of the exported goods of 129.4 billion euros exceeded the value of imports amounting to 111.1 billion euros significantly, increasing the trade balance surplus to 18.4 billion euros, compared to 15.7 billion euros last April.

He noted the decline in exports to the United States by 7.7 percent last May compared to April, by 13.8% compared to May 2024, reaching 12.1 billion euros, which is the lowest value since March 2022.
