European stocks declined during today’s trading, affected by mixed earnings results, amid waning sentiment regarding the possibility of reaching a trade agreement with the US, following reports that the European Union was preparing to take countermeasures.
The broader European STOXX 600 index fell 0.2% to 545.28 points, while the German DAX index fell 0.3% to 24,215.67 points. The French CAC 40 index fell 0.3% to 7,772.67 points, while the British FTSE 100 index was unchanged at 9,010.70 points.
European chemical stocks led the sectoral declines, falling 1.7%, after Akzo Nobel shares fell 4.2% after the Dulux paint manufacturer lowered its core operating profit forecast for 2025.
