European stocks declined in today’s trading, affected by a wave of cautious investor concerns about the impact of tariffs on inflation, following the release of stronger-than-expected US inflation data.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index fell 0.3% to 543.34 points, the German DAX index fell 0.1% to 24,018.80 points, the French CAC index fell 0.2% to 7,744.35 points, and the British FTSE 100 index was flat at 8,938.13 points.
ASML led the losses, with its shares falling 6.7% after the company—the world’s largest supplier of semiconductor manufacturing equipment—warned it may not achieve growth in 2026, despite second-quarter bookings exceeding expectations.
