China’s auto industry and sales recorded strong growth in the first half of this year, indicating continued momentum in domestic demand in the world’s second-largest economy.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, total vehicle production in China reached 15.62 million units during the first six months of the year, a 12.5% year-on-year increase, while sales rose 11.4% to 15.65 million units.
The data showed that new energy vehicle production rose 41.4% to approximately 6.97 million units, while sales climbed 40.3% to 6.94 million units.
Despite this strong growth, the Chinese government summoned major electric vehicle manufacturers to a warning meeting in June, urging them to halt “unjustified price cuts” that could affect market stability.
