The White House announced that there is no imminent decision on appointing a successor to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, after a report indicated that President Donald Trump could make the move this summer.
“There are no decisions imminent, although the president has the right to change his mind,” a White House official told AFP.
“The president has several good options for nominating the next Fed chair.”
Powell’s term as chairman of the US central bank expires in May 2026, and a successor could be chosen by this summer or fall sooner than usual.
