South Korean stocks rise to highest level in over 3 years

South Korea’s Kospi stock index crossed the 2,900 mark for the first time in over three years on Wednesday.

The index reached 2,903.20 in morning trading, up 31.35 points, or 1.09%, from the previous trading session. It opened 15.47 points higher than the previous session’s 2,887.32, and climbed to 2,903.94 during the session.

This is the first time the index has surpassed 2,900 since reaching 2,902.79 on January 18, 2022.

The index has continued to rise for the sixth consecutive session since rising 0.05% on June 2.
