Riyadh Aviation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rolls-Royce to supply its fleet of 50 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft with 50 Trent XWB-97 engines. These engines are the world’s largest and most efficient large jet engine, specifically designed for the A350-1000, providing a thrust of up to 97,000 pounds.
The agreement was signed by Adam Boukadida, Chief Financial Officer of Riyadh Aviation, and Rob Watson, President of Civil Aviation at Rolls-Royce, in the presence of Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer of Riyadh Aviation, and Tufan Erginbilgic, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce. This memorandum represents a strategic step that confirms Riyadh Air’s ambitions to operate a global network covering more than 100 destinations by 2030, with a total fleet of 182 aircraft across three different categories. Riyadh Air is scheduled to begin operations later this year. The A350-1000s, powered by Trent XWB-97 engines, will expand the national carrier’s network to the furthest reaches of the world, adding a significant range and capacity that will connect the capital, Riyadh, to the world, as a G20 capital, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
