NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced Thursday that the company will exclude the Chinese market from its revenue and earnings forecasts, following strict US restrictions on chip sales to China.
“I have told all our investors and shareholders that our forecasts will not include the Chinese market in the future,” Huang told CNN in Paris, as Washington intensifies its efforts to restrict China’s access to US chip-related technologies, with the aim of preventing Beijing from using US innovations to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities.
Huang’s comments underscore the impact of Washington’s chip restrictions on NVIDIA, a company formerly known for its video game graphics processors, which has benefited greatly from the growing demand for AI and infrastructure chips. The company exceeded Wall Street’s revenue expectations for the first quarter of 2025, recording a 69% increase compared to the same period last year, but Nvidia lost an additional $2.5 billion in revenue due to export restrictions that prevented it from shipping its H20 AI chips to China.
