Nikkei closes at 6-month high, tracking Wall Street
Japan’s Nikkei average closed at a six-month high today, as technology stocks tracked Wall Street’s strong close overnight.
The Nikkei jumped 1.43% to 40,150.79, its highest close since December 27. The index has gained 4.6% since the start of the week, its biggest weekly gain since September 23, 2024.
The broader Topix index rose 1.28% to 2,840.54, bringing its weekly gain to 2.5%, according to Reuters.
