European stocks fell in trading on Monday, the first trading session of June, amid US President Donald Trump’s threat to double tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
The regional STOXX 600 index fell 0.2% to 547.75 points, while the French CAC 40 index fell 0.4% to 7,721.67 points, and the German DAX index fell 0.12% to 23,966.91 points.
The UK’s FTSE 100 index rose 0.12%, supported by a 0.57% rise in oil and gas stocks, coinciding with rising crude prices.
