The administration of US President Donald Trump is planning to cut the 145% tariff on imports from China by more than half starting next week.
According to the New York Post, US officials are discussing a proposal to reduce the tariffs imposed by Trump on Chinese goods to between 50% and 54%, as part of the launch of lengthy negotiations aimed at reaching a trade agreement.
A source added to the newspaper that the trade tariffs on China will be reduced to 50% while the negotiations continue.
This comes as officials from Washington and Beijing are heading to Switzerland for high-level trade negotiations this weekend.
