Musk: Saudi Arabia Has Allowed the Use of Starlink, and We Will Soon Bring Self-Driving Vehicles to the Kingdom

American billionaire Elon Musk thanked the Kingdom for allowing the use of Starlink in navigation and aviation, confirming that he would soon bring self-driving vehicles to the Kingdom.
In March 2024, a panel discussion at the LEAP Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh revealed that studies and discussions were underway between several government agencies to draft legislation for self-driving cars in the Kingdom.
The panel discussion was organized by “Digital Saudi Arabia” and included officials from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Ministry officials spoke about digital initiatives within the ministry’s services, including the adoption of emerging technologies such as drones, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence in road surveying and evaluation.
Regarding the legislation for self-driving cars, which is currently under discussion, it includes insurance for these types of vehicles, their communication mechanisms, and other matters.
