Engineer Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, revealed advanced Saudi-American cooperation in employing generative artificial intelligence to develop nanorobots capable of treating complex diseases. This is part of strategic projects between the Kingdom and the United States, in cooperation with Aramco.
Al-Swaha said during his participation in the Saudi-American Investment Forum in Riyadh, which coincides with US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Kingdom, that he recently reviewed with David Sachs, the White House Senior Advisor for Artificial Intelligence, a joint project that successfully reduced the cost of treating some diseases from $2.2 million to just $100,000, thanks to nanorobots powered by generative artificial intelligence.
The Minister emphasized that the Kingdom is moving forward from an oil-dependent economy to an integrated digital economy led by artificial intelligence, leveraging its strengths in energy, capital, land, and local and global markets. He explained that generative artificial intelligence is a strategic priority, and efforts are being made to accelerate its adoption through the Public Investment Fund portfolio, Aramco, and the Armco Meta Brain Initiative, along with national competencies in the government sector.
For his part, David Sachs emphasized that the United States seeks to win the AI race by building a strong global alliance network, led by Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that US technology policy does not target allies like Saudi Arabia when imposing any restrictions.
Sachs indicated that American technologies must spread freely globally, similar to the success of the iPhone, warning that severe restrictions could hinder this spread. He highlighted the importance of supporting a massive AI infrastructure that requires thousands of advanced chips and processors, such as Nvidia 72 servers.
He added that the United States is capable of regulating the global spread of technology without resorting to a complete ban, through a flexible system that balances oversight and the protection of strategic partnerships. He emphasized that cooperation with Aramco on AI projects will be pivotal to ensuring global energy security and financing the two countries’ technological and economic ambitions.
