Japanese stocks closed higher on Thursday, hitting their highest level in more than two weeks after a US court blocked the implementation of tariffs previously announced by President Donald Trump.
The Nikkei index rose 1.88% to 38,432.98, its highest closing level since May 13, supported by a weaker yen and a rise in chip-related stocks.
The broader Topix index rose 1.53% to 2,812.02.
