Japanese stocks closed higher on Monday, as risk appetite increased, supported by easing trade tensions between the United States and the European Union.
The Nikkei index rose 1%, its biggest daily gain in nearly two weeks.
The broader Topix index also rose 0.6%.
Japanese government bonds also rose after a busy week in which long-term yields reached all-time highs.
