State-owned Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) said today that it is in talks with Saudi Arabia and other countries regarding potential deals to build nuclear power plants.
In September 2023, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, revealed that Saudi Arabia is working on a project to build its first nuclear power plant.
KEPCO confirmed that a number of countries are interested in South Korea’s experience and capabilities, which it successfully demonstrated in building the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE, and pledged to work to win more export deals. South Korea won a $14.5 billion contract to build the Barakah plant in 2009.
South Korea also won a project to build two nuclear power units at the Dukovany nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic last month.
