US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that the United States is preparing to sign a major agreement with Saudi Arabia focused on cooperation in the fields of energy and civil nuclear technology.

In his statements, Wright emphasized that the anticipated agreement represents a strategic step in his country’s efforts to strengthen long-term partnerships with the Kingdom, noting that the cooperation will include localizing the peaceful nuclear energy industry within Saudi Arabia. According to Al Arabiya, Wright praised Saudi Arabia’s vision and efforts, saying, “Saudi Arabia seeks to make the world a better place,” adding that his country anticipates a promising future for this cooperation.

It is worth noting that this move comes within the framework of expanding bilateral relations between Riyadh and Washington, particularly in strategic sectors that keep pace with global transformations in energy and the environment.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, received US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and his accompanying delegation on Saturday at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh, during his official visit to the Kingdom.

During the visit, the Minister of Energy was briefed on the center’s role in research on energy policies and transformations, climate change, sustainable transportation, and advisory services, in addition to developing analytical models and tools that contribute to finding solutions to current challenges in the energy sector, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Opportunities for cooperation in energy research, the exchange of expertise, and the promotion of joint research were also discussed.
