South Korea’s Doosan Energy announced Tuesday that it has signed a 130 billion won contract with Saudi Arabia’s Marafiq for the Yanbu 2 dry gas conversion project.

According to Yonhap News Agency, under the deal, Doosan Energy will supply combustion equipment, distributed control systems, and other equipment and will conduct trial operations until 2028.

The Yanbu 2 power plant is a 1,375-megawatt power plant, built in 2013 to supply electricity to the Yanbu Industrial Complex in Saudi Arabia.

After the fuel conversion process is completed, the plant is expected to maintain its current production capacity while reducing carbon emissions by 25% compared to its previous capacity.
