Japanese stocks rise, boosted by tech sector
Japanese stocks closed higher on Thursday, boosted by a rebound in the technology sector on Wall Street overnight.
The Nikkei index rose 0.5% to 35,039.15, near the session low but remaining above the 35,000 level.
The broader Topix index rose 0.3%.
The auto sector index rose 1.8%, making it among the best performers among the 33 industrial groups on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
