European markets opened higher today, boosted by improving sentiment in global markets as fears of a trade war between the US and China receded.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 1.5% after the opening bell, with most sectors within the index performing positively.

The German DAX index rose 2.27% to 21,776.73 points; the UK’s FTSE 100 index rose 1.17% to 8,426.39 points; and the French CAC 40 index rose 1.82% to 7,459.49 points.

Global markets witnessed a significant rise on Tuesday, amid hopes of an imminent resolution to the US-China trade dispute, which led US stocks to record sharp gains. President Donald Trump indicated that the final tariffs on Chinese imports to the United States “will not be anywhere near 145%,” but he also emphasized that they “will not be 0%” either.
