China has halted all LNG imports from the United States for more than ten weeks, according to the Financial Times.
Shipping data revealed no LNG shipments between the two countries since a 69,000-tonne tanker arrived from Corpus Christi, Texas, in China’s Fujian Province on February 6.
A second China-bound vessel was diverted to Bangladesh after failing to arrive before Beijing imposed a 15% tariff on US LNG on February 10. The tariff has now been raised to 49%, effectively cutting US gas out of the Chinese market.
