Local cement companies’ sales rise 10.4% in two months… exports jump 25.6%

The monthly report on Saudi cement market data revealed that local sales of cement companies increased during the first two months of this year (January – February 2025) by 10.4% compared to the same period last year. Production also increased by 12.5%, while exports jumped by 25.6%, as positive indicators for the Saudi cement market continue, supported by the rise in local and foreign demand. According to the monthly market report issued by Yamama Cement Company, the sales of the 17 companies operating in the market recorded about 9.5 million tons during the period (January – February 2025) compared to 8.6 million tons for the same period last year, an increase of 10.4%. The companies’ production also increased to 9.9 million tons compared to 8.8 million tons for the same period last year, an increase of 12.5%, while exports for the period jumped to 1.2 million tons compared to 960 million tons for the same period last year, an increase of 25.6%. The data shows the continuation of positive indicators for the second month in a row this year. During last February, the companies’ sales in the local market recorded an increase of 11.8%, production increased by about 12.6%, and exports jumped by 50.2%, supported by the increase in local and foreign demand amid expectations of the market’s continued positive performance during the first half of this year. The production of the 17 companies operating in the market during last February recorded about 4.8 million tons in February compared to about 4.3 million tons in February 2024, an increase of 12.6%, and local sales rose to about 4.6 million tons in February compared to about 4.1 million tons in the same month last year, an increase of 11.8%. In terms of exports, companies’ exports of cement and clinker rose to about 654 thousand tons in February compared to about 436 thousand tons in the same month last year, an increase of 50.2%. It is noteworthy that the positive indicators for the cement market began in the second half of last year to continue for the first two months of this year (January and February), as the data showed that local sales of the 17 companies operating in the Saudi market recorded about 49.2 million tons in 2024 compared to about 47.2 million tons in 2023, an increase of 4%, so that the annual local sales of cement companies returned to rise after recording an annual decrease of 7% in 2023 compared to 2022.

In terms of production, the data indicated an increase in production to about 51 million tons in 2024, compared to about 49.2 million tons in 2023, an increase of 3.6%, so that production returned to rise in 2024 after recording a decrease of 6.1% in 2023 compared to 2022.

As for exports (cement and clinker), the data showed a decrease for the second year in a row during 2024 to record about 6.5 million tons compared to about 8.6 million tons in 2023, a decrease of 25%, after recording an annual decrease of 5.4% in 2023 compared to 2022.
