Japan’s Nikkei average fell more than 2 percent to end Friday at a six-month low, as technology shares fell following Wall Street’s slide and a stronger yen that weighed on exports.
The Nikkei fell 2.17 percent to close at 36,887.17, its lowest close since Sept. 18, after touching 36,813.62 during the session, also the day’s trading low.
The index has lost 7.5 percent so far this year, making it the second-worst performer in Asian markets. The broader Topix index fell 1.56 percent to 2,708.59.
Wall Street closed lower late on Thursday.
