Italian car production drops 37% in January

Data from the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) showed a significant decline in car production in Italy in January 2025, with the automotive industry recording a 37% year-on-year decline compared to the same month the previous year. Despite this decline, there was a 10% increase compared to December 2024.

According to the data, reported production included private cars, which represent the majority, as well as buses, trucks, campervans, and forklift trucks.

Overall, Italy’s transportation manufacturing sector recorded a 13.1% year-on-year decline, while the sector saw a slight improvement in production on a monthly basis of 3.5%.
