Food production sector accounts for 21% of Saudi Stock Exchange listings in 2024

A survey conducted by Maaal revealed that 14 companies will be listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange in 2024, with a total capital of SAR 7.9 billion and a total of 2 billion shares issued. Of these, three companies are in the food production sector, representing 21% of the listed companies. The total capital of the sector’s companies reached SAR 1.135 billion, representing 14.3% of the total capital of the listed companies. The number of issued shares reached 599 million shares for the following companies: Modern Mills for Food Products, Arab Mills for Food Products, and Fourth Mills. Two companies from the commercial and professional services sector were included among the companies listed in 2024: Saudi Human Resources Solutions and Tamkeen Human Resources. One company from the media and entertainment sectors was listed: MBC Group; pharmaceuticals: Middle East Pharmaceutical Industries; healthcare: Dr. Sulaiman Abdul Qader Fakeeh Hospital; insurance: Rasn Information Technology; real estate exchange-traded funds: Eric Diversified REIT; public utilities: Miyahuna; capital goods: Al Tayseer Talco Industrial Group; financial services: United International Holding Company; and home and personal products: Al Majed Oud. This is according to the statistical report from the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).

The total number of companies listed on the market reached 247 by the end of the year, after 15 fund companies were offered for public subscription in 2024. The proceeds from the offerings during 2024 amounted to approximately SAR 14.40 billion, with 550.15 million shares offered for all initial public offerings. By the end of 2024, the market value of the companies listed on the market during the year reached approximately SAR 52.69 billion, representing 0.52% of the total market value. It is noteworthy that the banking sector was the most active sector among traded stocks in 2024, with the value of shares reaching approximately 265.57 billion riyals, representing 14.26% of the total value of traded stocks during the year. The basic materials sector came in second place with approximately 249.32 billion riyals, representing 13.39% of the total value of traded stocks during 2024. The energy sector came in third place with approximately 225.27 billion riyals, representing 12.10% of the total value of traded stocks during 2024.

The basic materials sector was the most active sector in 2024 in terms of the number of executed transactions, amounting to approximately 19.58 million transactions, representing 15.23% of the total number of transactions executed during the year. The banking sector came in second place with approximately 10.34 million transactions, representing 8.04% of the total number of transactions executed during 2024.

Regarding sector activity in terms of In terms of the number of shares traded (adjusted) during 2024, the financial services sector was the most active sector, with traded shares amounting to approximately 21.16 billion shares, representing 21.23% of the total number of shares traded during the year. The consumer services sector followed with approximately 13.74 billion shares, representing 13.79%, and the energy sector came in third with approximately 7.96 billion shares, representing 7.98% of the total number of shares traded during 2024.
