The euro rose from a two-and-a-half-week low against the dollar on Tuesday, while the pound rose as Europe took the lead in a new push for peace in Ukraine.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, fell 0.1 percent to 107.21.
The euro rose 0.4 percent to $1.0417. The pound rose 0.2 percent to $1.2604. The Australian dollar also rose 0.2 percent to $0.6219, while the New Zealand dollar added 0.1 percent to $0.5602. The yen advanced 0.1 percent to 150.46 against the dollar.
The Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso rose about 0.2% each to 1.4443 Canadian dollars and 20.49 pesos to the dollar, while the Chinese yuan was stable at 7.2948 to the dollar in offshore trading.
