Canadian PM: We will respond to America by imposing 25% tariffs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his country will impose 25% tariffs on US goods worth 155 billion Canadian dollars ($107 billion).

Trudeau added in a statement, “Canada will proceed with this action if the administration of US President Donald Trump moves forward with imposing its trade tariffs on Canadian products.”

He explained that the tariffs will be applied immediately to US goods worth 30 billion Canadian dollars, while the tariffs on the remaining products worth 125 billion Canadian dollars will come into effect within 21 days.

The Canadian Prime Minister confirmed that his country will maintain these measures until the United States withdraws its trade measures, noting that Canada is considering taking additional non-tariff measures in coordination with the provinces and territories, if Washington does not stop imposing the tariffs.
